Οι αμερικανικές αρχές επέβαλαν κυρώσεις σε Έλληνα εφοπλιστή ο οποίος
κατηγορείται ότι παραβίασε το εμπάργκο βοηθώντας μυστικά το Ιράν να
εξάγει πετρέλαιο. Η αμερικανική κυβέρνηση δήλωσε ότι ο κ. Δημήτρης Καμπής ιδιοκτήτης της αυτιλιακής εταιρείας Impire Shipping,
βρίσκεται στο επίκεντρο «παράνομης επιχείρησης» για μεταφορά ιρανικού
πετρελαίου. Βάσει των καταγγελιών, ο κ. Καμπής και οι επιχειρήσεις που
ελέγχει, αγόρασαν τουλάχιστον 8 τάνκερ πετρελαίου με στόχο να μεταφέρουν
ιρανικό πετρέλαιο. Οι Αμερικανοί αξιωματούχοι αναφέρουν μάλιστα ότι
κάθε τάνκερ μπορούσε να μεταφέρει πετρέλαιο αξίας 200 εκατ. δολ.
«Αποκαλύψαμε ένα πολύπλοκο ιρανικό σχέδιο που σχεδιάστηκε για να αποφευχθούν οι διεθνείς κυρώσεις» δήλωσε ο Ντέβιντ Κοέν, αναπληρωτής γενικός γραμματέας, αρμόδιος για θέματα τρομοκρατίας και μυστικών υπηρεσιών στο υπουργείου Οικονομικών των ΗΠΑ.
Ο ίδιος ο κ. Καμπής δήλωσε στο Bloomberg ότι πρόκειται για «πολύ κακές φήμες που δημιουργήθηκαν από τους ανταγωνιστές μας επειδή προσπαθούμε να πάρουμε μερίδιο της αγοράς».
Βάσει της αμερικανικής νομοθεσίας, τα περιουσιακά του στοιχεία θα «παγώσουν» ενώ πλέον θα απαγορεύεται σε αμερικανικές επιχειρήσεις να συναλλάσσονται μαζί του ή με τις επιχειρήσεις που αυτός ελέγχει.
Έρευνα και από το υπουργείου Οικονομικών της Ελλάδας
Το υπουργείο Οικονομικών της Ελλάδας έδωσε εντολή για άμεσο έλεγχο της αλλοδαπής -εγκατεστημένης στη χώρα- εταιρίας και του Έλληνα πολίτη που φέρονται να έσπασαν το εμπάργκο της ΕΕ κατά του Ιράν έδωσε ο υπουργός Ναυτιλίας Κ. Μουσουρούλης.
Στην ανακοίνωση αναφέρει ότι "το Υπουργείο Ναυτιλίας και Αιγαίου ανακοινώνει ότι στο πλαίσιο των αρμοδιοτήτων του, σε συνέχεια δημοσιοποίησης στοιχείων περί ενδεχόμενης παραβίασης των περιοριστικών μέτρων της ΕΕ κατά του Ιράν, από Έλληνα πολίτη και αλλοδαπή εταιρεία, που έχει λάβει άδεια εγκατάστασης γραφείου της στην Ελλάδα, διαβίβασε όλα τα σχετικά στοιχεία στην Αρχή Καταπολέμησης της Νομιμοποίησης Εσόδων από Εγκληματικές Δραστηριότητες και τη Χρηματοδότηση της Τρομοκρατίας και Ελέγχου Περιουσιακής Κατάστασης.
Ο Υπουργός Ναυτιλίας και Αιγαίου Κωστής Μουσουρούλης έδωσε εντολή για την πραγματοποίηση άμεσου ελέγχου της αλλοδαπής εταιρείας, προκειμένου να εξεταστεί άρση της άδειας εγκατάστασης της.
Ταυτόχρονα, επισημαίνεται, ότι από τη σχετική προκαταρκτική έρευνα που διενεργήθηκε από το Υπουργείο Ναυτιλίας και Αιγαίου, δεν διαπιστώνεται εμπλοκή, στην υπόθεση αυτή, πλοίων ελληνικής σημαίας ή ελληνικών ναυτιλιακών εταιρειών".

The United States has imposed sanctions on Greek company Impire Shipping and its president for helping Iran get around sanctions on its energy sector.
U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland announced sanctions on Impire Shipping and company President Dimitris Cambis for helping Iran evade sanctions by "disguising the Iranian origin of crude oil by concealing the control of a vessel by the National Iranian Tanker Company."
Washington is targeting Iran's energy sector with sanctions to limit Tehran's financing for Iran's nuclear program.
The U.S. government accused Cambis of using front companies to obscure the ownership of eight vessels that were capable of carrying about $200 million worth of oil shipments each.
"We are lifting the veil on an intricate Iranian scheme that was designed to evade international oil sanctions," Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David Cohen said in a statement.
Cambis told Bloomberg News he wasn't aware of the sanctions, describing the allegations as "very bad rumors created by our competitors."
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry this week issued sanctions waivers to 10 European countries and Japan for reducing Iranian crude oil purchases.

Cambis, the frontman for investors controlling a fleet of eight VLCCs, has had all his US assets blocked, the Treasury Department says.
Cambis and the VLCCs, which were first managed by Libra Shipping, were the subject of persistent chatter in the market from the time the first of the ships was purchased – but he has always denied any links with Iranian activity.
Speaking to TradeWinds today Cambis said. “We have nothing to do with Iranian cargoes and Iranian crude oil."
He added:“We have all the documentation to prove it. The issue is that being sanctioned to prove it will take a long time.”
David Cohen, Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, said in the statement: “Today we are lifting the veil on an intricate Iranian scheme that was designed to evade international oil sanctions.
“We will continue to expose deceptive Iranian practices, and to sanction those individuals and entities who participate in these schemes.”
“Another front company, Libra Shipping, operates the vessels Cambis and Impire purchased on behalf of NITC with the aim of loading them with Iranian oil supplied by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC),” the US added.
“These operations are conducted through a series of ship-to-ship transfers in an attempt to mask the fact that the true origin of the oil is from Iran and to introduce it into the global market as if it were non-Iranian oil.”
The Treasury Department says it has identified 58 vessels as property in which NITC has an interest.
“Today, Treasury is also identifying the eight tankers purchased by Cambis on behalf of NITC, the eight front companies that nominally own them, as well as a network of Iranian government front companies that provided some of the funds that Impire Shipping Company used to purchase vessels for NITC,” it said.

to the Treasury Department Cambis, president of Impire Shipping,
established his shipping company, as well as several front companies, to
purchase oil tankers while disguising the fact that the tankers were
being purchased on behalf of the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC).
“These
front companies were used to obscure the fact that these vessels, which
are capable of carrying roughly $200m worth of oil per shipment, are
the property of the Iranian government,” it said.“Another front company, Libra Shipping, operates the vessels Cambis and Impire purchased on behalf of NITC with the aim of loading them with Iranian oil supplied by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC),” the US added.
